Former Martins Ferry resident Alison Brown will return to
her former home Wednesday for a book signing to promote
her inclusion in the recently released, "Mission Possible!
Volume Three."
Brown
is the president of ALMEC International, which specializes
in management, employee and organizational development strategies
for a variety of companies including U.S. Bank and the Greater
Columbus American Red Cross. According to Brown, the focus
is to give organizations the tools to improve internal communication,
reduce turnover and its effects and work effectively with
a diverse work force base.
Martins
Ferry Public Library Director Yvonne Myers said she spoke
to the former Martins Ferry resident who now lives in Columbus.
She said Brown was honored to be management featured in
the series and that she is an exceptional person.
"I
have met her," Myers said. "She now lives in Columbus.
It's quite an honor for her. We are going to do a signing.
One chapter is devoted to her and what she has accomplished.
They're booking her in Columbus. It's very impressive. If
you meet her, she's a very dynamic person."
"Mission
Possible!" is part of a unique series that captures
the thoughts and principals of "mission-minded"
peopple and features transcribed radio interviews of nationally
known celebrities along with professionals who have relevant
and dynamic messages.
"Mission
Possible!" could be compared to "Chicken Soup
for the Soul" series. But, in "Mission Possible!"
there are only 12 contributors and each chapter is longer
which allows for more in-depth examination of the issues,
principals and advise from each author.
The
concept behind "Mission Possible!" included two
formats. The first is the interview format which provides
readers with a quick read and allows the reader insight
into the personality of the author. Next, each volume showcases
nationally known celebrities. Brown was asked to contribute
because she is viewed as a dynamic, credentialed professional
who is primed for national exposure because of the impact
she is having in her field.
Brown
is one of the 12 people featured along with "Seven
Habits of Highly Effective People" author Stephen Covey,
"Grow Younger Live Longer" author Deepak Chopra
and "It's Not Over Until You Win" author Pat Summit.
Summit is also a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame and
the coach of the Tennessee Lady Volunteers.
Brown
will be at the Martins Ferry Public Library from 6-9 p.m.
Wednesday for the book signing. The event is free and open
to the public. Copies of "Mission Possible! Volume
Threee" will be available for sale.
